Health Care Division
Please read our June 15, 2010 Health Care Division Announcement.
The Trust accomplishes its work and seeks to fulfill its mission through two divisions: the Health Care Division and the Poor and Needy Division.
Through the Health Care Division, the Trust responds to health and wellness needs and invests in solutions that improve the quality of health for financially needy residents across the state of North Carolina. Our four areas of emphasis are:
- Diabetes,
- Mental Health and Substance Abuse,
- Access to Primary Care, and
- Community Change.
Further information on each area of emphasis is available under 'Health Care Division Funding Priorities'.
The Health Care Division receives three-fourths of grant funds distributed. In addition to our grant program, the division seeks to transform negative health outcomes through multiple avenues:
- Engaging in Partnerships/Collaborations which requires institutional sharing of resources (talent, time, knowledge, expertise, funds) to achieve a positive outcome, most often greater than we could accomplish alone. We seek partnerships with and among other funding institutions, advocacy organizations, and our grantee population.
- Convening groups to share knowledge, plan, or network.
- Supporting Public Policy Change to bring about enduring systemic change to promote health and healthy lifestyles for all residents of North Carolina.
- Providing Capacity Building Opportunities to our grantees and grantee communities to help develop and strengthen the skills, instincts, abilities, processes and resources that they need to survive, adapt and thrive in the fast-changing world.
- Offering Leadership Development activities & experiences to improve the leadership capacity of an individual or group of individuals within an organization or community.
